This handy diagram shows the lines of measurement!
ADVANCED MEASURING FOR PROBLEM AREAS
Take note of any distinguishing features that make your horse hard to get a good fit:
HIGH WITHERS?
Imagine a level line from the top of the withers across the back (use a level if you need to); measure the drop from this line to the lowest part of the back.
POINTY/BULGY SHOULDERS?
Just advise us of this and we can build darts into the shoulder area to accommodate this problem.

MEASURING TIPS
1. SIZE
Measure from the CENTER of the chest to the CENTER of the tail, going around the largest part of shoulder and hip. Make sure the horse's HEAD AND BODY ARE STRAIGHT and in alignment as this could dramatically change the size. Measure both sides of the horse until they agree.
2. TOPLINE
Measure from the top of tail head to HIGHEST point of the withers, but not up the neck, allowing the tape to drape along the backbone.
3. DEPTH
Measure from the withers down to the elbow.
4. NECK/SHOULDER
Measure from highest point of withers following along the line where the base of the neck joins the shoulder to the centre TOP of the chest. (Where the neck meets the chest.)
